Boomsday is an annual one day event held in the waterfront area of downtown Knoxville, Tennessee. The event is well known throughout the South East US and boasts the grandest firework display in the area. (twenty minutes worth…) It attracts visitors from around the world.

The event takes place over the Labor Day holiday weekend on the Volunteer Landing by the Tennessee River. There is lots of live music, games, rides, exhibits, food and drinks.

The highlight is the firework display which attracts vast crowds. The fireworks are set off from Henley St Bridge so they can be viewed from many areas including the surrounding hills, the riverfront area or if you can manage it a boat on the river.

What makes the event unique is the fact that the fireworks are set to music….with certain tunes sure to drive the audience wild….the Tennessee Volunteers fight song being one of them including fireworks in the teams colors. You never know who you will hear. The music has ranged from the music of Spielberg’s Jaws to Madonna. There is also a firework waterfall cascading off the bridge. The firework display starts at 9:30 in the evening.

Who doesn’t like saving money? Even billionaires have been known to haggle on prices and negotiate for the best deals. That’s part of how they got to be billionaires. For most people, being able to save money on their vacation is of utmost importance.

A trip to the Grand Canyon can be a little more expensive than other vacations. This is due to restricted access to the park that limits where people can stay, whether or not they drive, and how much it costs to enter the park itself. However, the budget traveler will find ways to save money on these aspects of their trip, though it may take a bit of research and planning.

As with any other vacation, the internet has made it much easier to track down discounts and deals on Grand Canyon hotels , transportation, and even restaurants and shops in the area. Some travelers opt to camp rather than stay at a hotel while others visit during the less popular off season when rates are lower and lines are shorter.

Since the Grand Canyon is part of the National Parks system , families that plan to visit multiple parks around the country should consider buying an annual parks pass. This may cut down on the entrance fees for some of the parks. Booking a tour that covers all the fees and costs of visiting the Canyon is also an option, especially for those who can find a sale or discount on the tour package.

A Canadian vacation can be anything you want it to be. Urban adventures, extreme sports, quiet moments with nature or raucous festivals can all be found up here. From fireworks competitions to rock festivals, from skiing to whale watching, The Great White North has something to offer everyone.

The Rocky Mountains are one of the best natural features of the North American continent and you’ll find that many canada vacation packages are designed around these majestic beauties. Travelers flock to the amazing scenery, beautiful wildlife, and exciting activities that can only be experienced in the Rockies. Whitewater rafting, skiing, and grizzly watching are a part of many recreational tours while couples choose the Rockies for a romantic tour of the breathtaking mountain views and to enjoy cozy evenings in front of a fireplace.

Tourists may choose to take a motorcoach or bus tour or to travel the Rockies by train. There are special ski holidays, golf packages, and even trips designed to make the most of the region’s winter months. Some people head to Canada for the world famous Calgary Stampede , and there are packages available for that and other major events and festivals. Those that can’t find the perfect tour can always design their own personalized package and see Canada their own way.

It is irresponsible to take risks with your life. This is why people wear seat belts, bicycle helmets, and protective sports gear. It is also the rationale behind having some form of medical insurance to help pay doctor and hospital bills during the course of daily life. What most people forget is that just because they are heading overseas for vacation or work or even schooling, their responsibility doesn’t end. They — and you — need to purchase some form of traveler health insurance before departing on their trip.

A policy must be purchased while you are still in your home country. The policy should have effective dates that encompass the entire trip, with several days added on as a buffer. The possibilities of travel delays are compounded when dealing with international travel and the last thing you want is to have your insurance run out while you are still overseas.

The good thing about visitor health insurance is that it works much the same way as any type of health insurance. By paying the premiums, you are provided with coverage during your travels. This means that if you are injured or become ill and need medical treatment, you can head to a clinic or hospital in whatever country and receive the care you need without having to worry about paying the costs out of your own pocket. You will also get assistance if you lose existing prescriptions or need emergency care.

It may seem like a large expense, depending on the plan you need, but the costs associated with getting emergency care in a foreign country can be much more expensive without a good insurance policy in place.

Today’s Fort Lauderdale is an entirely different scene than it was just a decade or so ago. While there is certainly never any shortage of people visiting to live it up, enjoying the splendid beaches and the city’s excellent night clubs, they no longer dominate the ambiance the way they have in the past. It’s still a place where a five star Fort Lauderdale hotel means a wonderful time away from it all, but there are more options for things to do during the days. There is room for adults and children here, and for those traveling with kids, there are plenty of exciting things to do.

The main activities here still revolve around pleasure, but anyone who has little ones understands that pleasure can also involve learning. With programs like Funky Fish Days , where kids from ages 4-14 can learn about the ocean, there are concentrated efforts to make it possible for parents to enjoy the sun, and a little time to themselves. The programs are arranged so that kids can enroll for one afternoon, or for a week, spending time in a summer camp like atmosphere. Here, they can learn about the reefs, the sea life, and even learn how to snorkel. This leaves the parents free to shop, take in the beach to themselves, or see all that the city has to offer.

Hong Kong for years has been claiming they are the new culinary capital of Asia. Most epicurean magazines seem to agree. Hong Kong’s range of food is stunning, from street stalls to Pacific Place mall and from snake meat to thousand-year old eggs.

Most tourists stay at a Hong Kong hotel thought shopping to be this vast city’s national sport, but now consider eating to be its national obsession. There are 7 million people living in a posh, metropolitan area about the size of Manhattan. The average living space are approximately 450 square feet, so cooking at home has basically become a challenge and passe’. The solution to living in such cramped quarters is to eat out; eat anywhere, from street stalls and family owned eateries to giant malls and exclusive pent-house style restaurants that offer spectacular sky-high views of the Hong Kong skyline.

The choice of places to eat seems almost overwhelming. The competition between eateries is fierce and the range is vast. Eating out in Kowloon district offers the hungry crowd fast-food outlets, family-run walk-in restaurants and hotel restaurants. Hong Kong Central , also known as HK Island, is where the high-end mall eating can be found, plus penthouse restaurants for those special nights. Nathan Road and the Golden Mile have a huge range of good value restaurants, many of which are on the 2nd or 3rd floors above the street.

For all of the cultural and national treasures that can be found in the museums of Washington, DC, there are dozens of alternative galleries that will show work by artists who are perhaps not so well known. For some of these, there are certainly rising talents in the contemporary art scene, and there are also those who have achieved a kind of recognition that doesn’t depend on large-scale admiration for the artist to continue working. There are a number of outsider artists also contained in the gallery walls, but there is one in particular that offers another dimension to the idea of art within walls.

The Prisons Foundation is a non-profit organization based in DC who work solely for the education and promotion of artists and their works made when incarcerated. Seeing these works is an excellent opportunity to mine the uneven corners of the human spirit, and to see what the world looks like today. Visitors staying in Washington business hotels , families of the imprisoned, and art lovers in general can come to see the work, and perhaps buy something to hang on their own walls. The organization’s mission is to help humanize the artists, and to give them an opportunity to engage in new art forms that can help enormously with their own journey toward growth and becoming useful.

The oldest park in Vancouver is Stanley Park. Touted as one of the best parks in the world, it is a major attraction for tourists staying in luxury Vancouver hotels and remains popular with residents of the city. Located close to the city’s downtown, Stanley Park offers an oasis of the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Sitting on 1000 acres, the park is populated by the towering majesty of hemlock, fir, and cedar trees and attracts 8 million visitors every year.

Stanley Park includes two fresh water lakes, abundant wildlife, and a 5.5 mile seawall path that circles the park and provides stunning city, mountain, and ocean views. The park also offers 17 miles of forested trails for hiking. Visitors can catch glimpses of Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons, tour rose and perennial gardens, or visit the Brockton Point totem poles. Make sure to leave time to tour the Vancouver Aquarium and the Painter’s Circle.

Families will want to visit the Children’s Farm or take a trip on the miniature train through the forest.

There are several pools and beaches open to the public as well as tennis courts, four full service restaurants and musical theatre at Malkin Bowl.

Looking for a street festival that is more than music? more than food? more than spectacle? Look no further than the Somerville area of Boston and plan to arrive for Columbus Day weekend. That’s when the 5th annual HONK! Festival takes place in Davis Square . A new generation of street bands will arrive to honk their horns — to raise consciousness of various political and environmental dangers, but also to celebrate and have fun.

HONK! is a non-profit grassroots festival sponsored by the people — local businesses and residents provide financial and in-kind donations, including providing housing and food for the more than 350 musicians who take part in the event. While those in the audience may be staying in a historic hotel in Boston , the musicians will be housed by friends, neighbors, and strangers who open their homes to make the festival possible.

Although there are numerous warm-up events, this Festival of Activist Bands kicks off on October 8th when visiting bands will tour local Boys & Girls Clubs in Boston, Cambridge, and East Somerville. Saturday is HONK! on Davis Square where audiences can see 25 bands play from noon to 9pm. Sunday, October 10th features the HONK! Parade to Reclaim the Streets for Horns, Bikes and Feet which takes the festival from Davis Square to Harvard Square, where the bands will participate in the Harvard Square Octoberfest all afternoon before returning to the Somerville Theatre for the final, blow out show. The latter is the only part of the show that requires a ticket, the rest of the weekend events are free to the public.

After a few days of eating at the same hotel restaurant it may be time to check out what other places to dine in the town of Cozumel Mexico. I am sure the food is wonderful at the luxury hotels cozumel has available. Infact, some of the best restaurants in town are located inside many of these hotels. It is good to just get out for a walk or drive and enjoy another atmosphere.

For more of that classic Mexican atmosphere and cuisine, check out Casa Mission Restaurant They have excellent Mexican food in a really elegant Mexican style restaurant. There is always music playing making it a fun and festive environment that compliments the friendly staff. Always with smiles.

There are also other kinds of cuisine for something really different. They have Mediterranean restaurants and also Caribbean, Fusion, International, Italian, American and the list goes on. Most of these places can accommodate larger groups and have some really fun entertainment happening. If you get a real craving for Asian dishes your in luck. You can find your way to Chi for some authentic Asian dishes.

Now all you need is a great pair of walking shoes or a quick ride to the restaurants that await you in Cozumel. Have a great trip.
