Spending the weekend at the lake is a great way to not only get out of town and spend some time with good friends, but is also an effective stress release activity. As we continue to move forward with a focus on health and well being, it’s important to include in our lifestyles all of the activities and habits that support this. And while we think of spending time on the lack as a strictly leisure activity, it’s overall effects on our health are more significant than we previously have given credit. As you load up your jet skis and life jackets, remember that your car should be in good enough shape to get you where you’re going and back again, though your tires and wheels won’t be of much service once you arrive at the beautiful lakeside ground.

Once you set up your camp and have everything arranged to your liking, including the bbq that’s going to grill your day’s catch, you can get out the skis, put on your jacket and let the fun begin. Water skiing is one of those sports that takes a bit more physical strength and control than you might realize. In addition, it can provide a quality workout to the skier. Of course those sitting comfortably in the boat waving the to the skier behind them aren’t getting much immediate exercise, but the fun, laughter and relaxation they’re enjoying is also extremely good for them. Of course skiing isn’t the only health oriented water sport or lake activity, though it is one of the more common one, and it’s also an effective one.

While you’re there at the lake you can be sure and enjoy a beautiful morning hike or late afternoon rock-climbing excursion. In addition, a quick and vigorous sunrise swim will definitely get your heart rate elevated and stimulate your metabolism for the day. Bring a Frisbee or foam football with you for extra activities and game options. Great friends are one of life’s strongest elements and spending quality time with them is as good for us as it is rewarding. While you’re there at the lake you can spend some time catching up with each others lives and having some quality heart to hear conversations. Then you can get out on the water and really release some stress. Another health oriented option on the lake is to begin your day with some quality yoga poses and stretches. Many people enjoy the mystic experience of practicing yoga out in the open nature. And never underestimate the contribution to your health these experiences are having. You can reflect on this as you check your chrome rims and head back into town.
