Who doesn’t like saving money? Even billionaires have been known to haggle on prices and negotiate for the best deals. That’s part of how they got to be billionaires. For most people, being able to save money on their vacation is of utmost importance.

A trip to the Grand Canyon can be a little more expensive than other vacations. This is due to restricted access to the park that limits where people can stay, whether or not they drive, and how much it costs to enter the park itself. However, the budget traveler will find ways to save money on these aspects of their trip, though it may take a bit of research and planning.

As with any other vacation, the internet has made it much easier to track down discounts and deals on Grand Canyon hotels , transportation, and even restaurants and shops in the area. Some travelers opt to camp rather than stay at a hotel while others visit during the less popular off season when rates are lower and lines are shorter.

Since the Grand Canyon is part of the National Parks system , families that plan to visit multiple parks around the country should consider buying an annual parks pass. This may cut down on the entrance fees for some of the parks. Booking a tour that covers all the fees and costs of visiting the Canyon is also an option, especially for those who can find a sale or discount on the tour package.

Getting to the Heart of Maps

Certain phrases quickly enter the popular imagination and become a special sort of slang or shorthand. In the past few years the notion that there’s an app for that has quickly been adapted to virtually every industry and aspect of life. If there’s an app for everything, then there’s probably a book, movie, tool, or map for it too.

When thinking about maps, most people have several images that come quickly to their minds. The giant wall map that was on the wall in the classroom when they were kids. The road maps that they relied on when they took trips in college. Maybe there’s a particular map that has personal significance to them, such as the map of their home state that they keep on the wall of their home office now that they are living on the other side of the world.

The role that maps play in modern life is the key to understanding or getting what they mean. They are so much more than simple representations of physical space. If that were the case then everyone would have GPS and there would be no need for printed maps. Or people would use a map and then throw it out once they finished their purpose. The reason that people keep a cache of travel maps in their desk drawer long after they have returned from their trip is that maps have the ability to evoke emotional responses, spark imagination, and teach people about relationships between things and places. They are much more than navigational tools.
