We found out about the castle on Ibiza after attending fairly swanky Ibiza opening parties having talked to couple from Bulgaria of all places. Edvard and Yvonne they called themselves, she with an actual eye patch of her left eye, then mysteriously it became a right side eye patch later in the evening, he with a beard like Rasputin, who claimed to have reached the ‘other side’ on their day trip to said castle. Said to be on the highest point in Ibiza, the castle no doubt had military significance back in its day. Well, it was all well and good, as we walked across an actual drawbridge to enter the castle. We were hoping to see Edvard and Yvonne (or E and Y as we called them) and catch what every they were seeing on the ‘other side’. Other side of what, Natalie demanded, and I did not know what to tell her, of course. We would have asked them (E and Y) if they were here. We climbed up to the walls and looked down from an honest to goodness castle. I imagined firing flaming arrows at invading hordes, locked immortal struggle, battling for glory. All forgotten now. I realized I just had a semi serious bout with deja vu. I felt like I had been here before, or something much like it, and felt quite at ease and at home here at the castle. Is this what E ad Y were talking about? Can one believe anything a gal in an eye patch tells you? Just them bells went churning off in the distance, and suddenly I was quite hungry. Our light breakfast Ibiza style of cappuccino, toast and jam did not stick, so we clambered off the castle and found a little lunch stand on a (what else) a cobblestone alley, barely wide enough or a single car if cars could travel here.
