I want to live in an Indian neighborhood in Goa and find out if it’s feasible to make a living there. First, though, I made reservations at one of the Goa Hotels for a whole month. I figured this would be plenty of time to investigate if my dream of moving to India is even possible.
My first week in Goa, I noticed living in an all Indian neighborhood with little stalls and what is referred to as Sagar eateries and the partially paved streets, there is only a few blocks away a main shopping artery. I discovered that this has an interesting mix of a typical spread out small India city neighborhood and a vibrant, cosmopolitan, global high tech business center. I really loved the old trees that bordered almost every avenue and all the parks and lakes. I found that generally, the traffic was no worse than any other city in India.
The market place in Goa, seem that it will sustain me if I do choose to live here. I found that my expertise in consulting growing companies would be very useful here. My insights about Goa proved to be right on the button. Most people I met here just casually, especially the business people, seemed extremely interested in my leadership development practices. Now, that the economy seems to be stabilizing and most companies are beginning to recoup, I could easily create and bring in new activity to these companies.
I do want to take more time here, though, I can tell that one month isn’t enough time to fully comprehend just how well my expertise would be utilized with the particular companies based here. I’m still working on building up my own new consulting company. But, I definitely will be back to Goa to reconnect with the businesses I casually talked to. The wealth and the competent entrepreneurial energy here is ripe for the picking.
