The soil here in Ibiza is really red, kind of like a Sedona red and like Sedona one can get away from the admittedly beautiful man made towns for the nature made serenity of piny hills and sheer rocky seascapes. It’s best that the Ibiza Town Hotel maintains this respect for the natural world and one can leave the exciting thumping of Ibiza’s legendary nightlife. Es Cavallet beach boasts clear water and pines and extensive dunes and sand. You can see the islands of Formentera off int eh distance beyond the white sand where parts of it are clothing optional. There are nice cafes on the beach. The beach attracts people from all over. In fact, the history of the island goes back thousands of years, and has hosted everyone from the Romans to the Visigoths. It’s a sure bet the Romans would enjoy the hedonism that is Ibiza today.
Part of that history is celebrated at the Medieval Fair as costumed performers in period garb entertain on the street, while crafts people provide their crafts. There was much dancing and great food, and entertaining performances for everyone. Some dressed as though they had leprosy and begged for handouts! This all seemed to emanate from the Castle of Dalt Vila, a Unesco World Heritage site For more music meet the hippies of Cala de Benirras where the people come to drum in a traditional manner. During the drumming, take in the cute stands featuring hand crafted objects, made by actual hippies! As the sun goes down great bonfires are lit and torches shine in the night. The sound reverberates in the small cove. This is one of many markets in Ibiza, not all of which you can meets hippies doing their thing, or having a chance at a conga lesson!
